Why Pixar is successful?

Pixar Animation Studios is an American computer animation created in United States, California. Something great for this company is that they are part of Walt Disney Company. Beginning the animated feature films in 1979 as a graphics group in a computer division of Lucasfilms. Pixar had been working with big companies and that’s why we could say that this company got luck in its existence.

But ¿What makes Pixar successful? It is not because they had been working with technology all the life, or because they made great animations and movies. We should tell that Pixar was founded as the Graphic Group of Lucasfilm, this team began working just like a company of special and visual effects, then Steve Jobs bought the company, creating more animations for just short demonstrations, just like Luxo Jr, just to show off the device’s capabilities. So we know now, that this is not why they are successful, just because they had work with great people like George Lucas or Steve Jobs.

Something that helps Pixar to make them awesome is the love that all the employees have for the art. The dedication and the study of this part, they don’t want to do things just for doing it, they neither want to do things just for great endings, they do things and take a big dedication in every single thing they do in an animation, they take care more about ‘HOW’ they do the things and not the part of ‘WHAT’ to do.

In the movie “The pixar history” we can see that they got the ideas of characters and their stories like 20 years ago, and they just didn’t decide to make them quickly. They started to think more about the plot, the story and how to tell it in a great way. Making a lot of drawings and making demos to know what they could improve or change, even if it takes more than 3 years, they really want to do their animations and movies in the best way.

Dreamworks was the first Enemy of Pixar, everything that Pixar makes Dreamworks too, we could say that they were the ones that dared to make animations like that even everyone knows that they just were a copy in their first animations. Examples like “Bugs” of Pixar, a great movie in a tiny story and Dreamworks made “Antz” the same materials in a low definition. We could say that everyone can be successful, but you should think more of HOW you should do the things, and not just for selling things, Pixar tries to do everything in the best way, they don’t care the time it cost or money, even they stop the production and start over again if they don’t like a tiny thing of the animation, they want to do the things better than themselves, they don’t care about Enemies like dreamworks, they think they are their own enemies and that’s why I think PIXAR is successful, because they want to beat themselves every movie they make.

Run Lola Run

Run Lola run, The essay.

Maybe you can change your opinion, your way of doing something, but you will never have the opportunity to change your destiny. “Run Lola run” (Lola rennt) is a movie that talks about the choices you make in your life and the lives you can affect when you make those decisions. This movie remind me another movie named “The air I breathe” that talks about how your actions can modify the lives of other people and mainly yours.

Lola is the protagonist of this movie and her problem in the story is how to get money without dying or killing her boyfriend in the choices she has to make. She starts to think how to get that money. She starts running to the bank to meet his father and ask him for money. This is the first option she thought, and obviously the first thing she do in every moment, only the actions like accidentally pushing people while she’s running, of the conversation with the father, or how she run downstairs, are the things that can change her destiny.

I realized that she run in different ways. First she started running like crazy, without thinking, just letting her feelings think instead of her, and because of that she gets killed by the police officer. The second is when she startsrunning again, but this time a little scared, she doesn’t know what to do yet, but she only thinks that she doesn’t want to die, she have more attention in everything, and she only thinks the actions that can affect her, that’s why this time his boyfriend got kill by an ambulance. The third one and last, is when she realized that, she has to let destiny do what it wants, she is thinking like: “Ok, I will do what I just have to do.” and not like before: “I’ll make my own destiny, I can control the reactions.” And that’s why the ending happened that should happen since the beginning.

It is a movie that makes you think about your life, just like “The Butterfly Effect”, you have to know that life will do what it has to do; you can’t change things from future and neither the past. But you have the power to live in the present and do what you really want to do. That’s the objective of the Movie, you just have to live and let everything happen, and if you can change something, don’t do it, just try to make it better or fix it.

“Run Lola run” is a great movie because it has good characters, the scene design is a miniplot in a strange way, maybe you are not watching the other lives in a direct way, but when you see the photos that appears suddenly, you can see that Lola can change others life when she makes things to get the money. “Run Lola run” is a original and excellent movie, that when it finishes you think in your life and the lives you can affect, or maybe it just my case.
